Money Wise

Since the boys are getting older, they have started getting money for birthday gifts and graduations. We wanted to teach them at an early age to control their money instead of their money controlling them, so I came up with a little system that they love. Each jar tells them where their money goes: Give, Save, Spend. When the Give jar is filled up, they can decide what they want to give their money to. After explaining this to the boys, Gabe said he wanted to give his money to the Ronald McDonald House for kids with Cancer. He said he saw the box at McDonald 's and has always wanted to put money in it for the kids. I thought that was cool that he is already aware of and willing to help other kids like him. Maybe one day we will be able to visit the kids he has given to. I think those kind of things have big impacts on shaping a child's heart to be more like Jesus. When the Save jar is filled up, we will put it in a savings account for them, and at any time they want to they can use their money from the Spend jar. Usually it's on Icees and snowballs. Gotta love being a kid!

  1. Do you remember going to the children's hospital with all your stuff animals. We gave them to the children for Christmas.

I have a savings acct opened for all the kids in their name.

  2. That's wonderful that you are doing this for the boys. They will also learn the importance of being good stewards of the money God has given them. And that you have to HAVE the money BEFORE you spend it. Great life lesson!
