Well I finally did it. I'm officially a blogger. At first I was going to name it "dark but lovely" from Song of Solomon. In those days the rich girls would stay inside for protection from the sun. These girls were wealthy and well taken care of. The poor girls would have to work outside in the fields. The girl in Song of Solomon says that she is dark on the outside showing that she was not protected from the sun, not wealthy, not anyone special, but calls herself lovely on the inside. Today, you are socially more beautiful if you are tan. Fair girls spend hours in a tanning bed to make themselves look "beautiful" and are totally jealous of the girls who are naturally dark.
Although I myself am as fair as they come, not wealthy, nobody socially special, I am lovely. Jesus inside of me has healed me and set me free from being a slave to sin. He's given me a special identity found only in him. I know who I am and in that knowledge I am confident.
So I invite you to come along with me on my journey to become the best wife, mother, and minister I can be. Together we will learn how to be lovely where it counts - on the inside.
LOVE IT!!!!! that is awesome. i like my little snow white and hate the tanning bed (too expensive). i am proud of you, i think this is going to build a big following. Allu!
ReplyDeleteAshley that was wonderful....I sent the site to many of my friends...also now I don't feel so bad being fair skinned 365 days a year :) You know my goals in life at the sweet age of 16, were to be the best wife and mother and I was laughed of the planet...but I stuck to my guns and hopefully God is pleased!
ReplyDeletethis is why you are awesome
ReplyDeleteWow! When I read this article, I thought I had written those words myself. It is awesome to have someone feel exactly what you are feeling and express it; letting you know that you are not alone. I am so proud to have an example in my life such as yourself on my quest also to be the best wife, mother, and spirtual helper to my husband. And when that day comes and God promotes us to whatever He would have us to do, I'll be sure to say I learned from the best. Thanks for being an awesome friend.
